The Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) has contributed to the preparation of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED) 2015 Annual Report, Sustainable Consumption for Better Resource Management, in Arab countries. Namely Anna Ibañez, communication officer at SCP/RAC, wrote on the SwitchMed Programme giving a great overview of the goals and activities of SwitchMed, and Meryem Cherif, project manager at SCP/RAC, wrote on the case of Sekem, a successful initiative on sustainable food in the Arab world taking part of the Switchers.
The 2015 AFED annual report discusses how changing consumption and production patterns can help preserve resources and protect the environment, ultimately leading to sustainable development. The report builds on expert background papers on Energy, Water and Food, especially prepared for AFED, and a groundbreaking public opinion survey carried out by AFED in 22 Arab countries to determine trends regarding consumption patterns.
Annual reports on the State of Arab Environment, produced since 2008 by AFED, have become main source of information and prime driver of policy changes in Arab countries.
