On the first day, diverse European experts from the Mediterranean region coming from the European Foundation for Cluster Excellence, Italian Agency for Sustainable Development, Technology Development Foundation of Turkey presented best practices and guidelines related to the planning and development of sustainable industrial areas, with a special focus on environmental management and economic competitiveness. In the afternoon, representatives from each participating country (Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt and Jordan) shared their existing policies and future projects to support eco-efficiency and cleaner production in their industrial facilities.
During the morning of the second day, a recognized international expert (SOFIES from Switzerland) presented the conceptual framework and state of the art on Industrial Ecology and eco-innovation in Europe, with a special focus on eco-park and industrial symbiosis. In order to complement this theoretical lecture, a woman entrepreneur (ZICLA) shared her successful experience on launching a green SME using recycling plastic as raw material.
Finally, the training conclude with a group exercise facilitated between all participants, with the support of the invited experts, to identify and develop eco-innovative projects linked with sustainable industrial areas in the region.
