This national training, second round of a first workshop on industrial resource efficiency held in Amman in 2013, was designed to share international good practices on Green Economy (GE) and Sustainable Consumption & Production (SCP), with a focus on leaderships skills, eco-tourism and organic agriculture.
On day one, recognized experts presented the State of the art on Green Economy in the Middle East region (by Global Green Growth Institute) and in Jordan (by the Ministry of Environment). Then, UNEP representatives explained the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on SCP (10YFP) as well as the Switch-Med project that will support the development and implementation of National SCP Action Plan in the Mediterranean countries. In the afternoon, a participative exercise by an EADA senior coach was organized to identify leaderships skills needed to promote green economy in a specific organization or territory such as Jordan.
On day two, Egyptian success story of organic agriculture was introduced through the Sekem business case. Then carefully selected euro-Mediterranean eco-tourism projects were shared by Italian expert from Sardegna environmental agency. Finally a collaborative workshop on national SCP action plan was convened by the UNEP-SWITCH-Med team. This exercise will feed the SCP and GE strategy implemented by the Jordanian Ministry of environment.
